3 Wellness Trends for Texans Powered by CBD in 2026

Texans are hyper-focused on wellness, and it’s no surprise. The Commonwealth Fund’s 2025 Scorecard on State Health System Performance found that Texas ranked 50th out of all 50 states and the District of Columbia. A struggling healthcare infrastructure leaves Texans focused on wellness and preventative care.

It’s starting younger too; McKinsey’s Future of Wellness 2025 survey found Millennials and Gen Z are prioritizing wellness up to 23-percent more than older generations.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a big part of this push to wellness. Hemp-derived CBD retail sales in Texas reached $4.3 billion last year, up from $3.3 billion in 2023. This generated an estimated $268 million in tax revenue with $2.1 billion being paid in wages across the industry.

This makes CBD a central component of both the economic health of Texas as well as the personal health of its citizens. As we move into a new year, here are the top wellness trends for Texans in 2026 and how CBD helps.

1. Nurture Mental Health

Mental health is one of the most overlooked aspects of our holistic wellbeing. It’s easy to see you broke an arm and know you need a doctor. But trauma and depression are a lot harder to see.

According to data from the Texas Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), there’s been a steady increase of mental health concerns over the last decade. In 2015, 18.3-percent of Texans over 18 reported their mental health was not good. That rose to 29.3-percent in 2023 (the most recent year with statistics available).

This may be a sign of more people having mental health concerns. But it’s more accurate to attribute this increase to more people being aware of and speaking up about their mental health. That means more Texans are mindful of maintaining our mental wellbeing.

CBD is shown in clinical studies to be beneficial for mood stabilization as well as treating depression and anxiety. And there are plenty of resources online to find more tips on maintaining good mental health.

2. Plan Functional Nutrition

The cost of food shot up during the pandemic lockdowns, and although it got better for a few years, a CNBC analysis of the U.S. consumer price index found kitchen staples like coffee and bananas shot up by as much as 10-percent from April through August of this year.

With so much uncertainty and purses tightening, holistic and functional nutrition is important to prevent health problems.

Eat local whole foods that are in season, and contact local farmers to see if they’ll work with you on price. Try to get a full spectrum of colorful fruits and vegetables packed with the vitamins and minerals your body needs. CBD supplements and hemp seed hearts can also assist with suppressing junk cravings.

3. Supplement Health With Tech

Doctors and hospitals can’t do a lot to keep us healthy without access to real data. A recent national survey found 80-percent of patients admitted lying to their doctors. Even worse, 64-percent of Texans avoid seeking healthcare altogether. Everything is bigger in Texas, but our mistakes don’t have to be!

Wearables are becoming more commonplace, with almost half of adults using a wearable to monitor their personal health. These devices often seamlessly connect and integrate with our smartphones to provide historical and real-time data on vital signs. And you can track everything from fitness goals to diet, sleep, and more.

You can also get smart home accessories like a smart bathroom scale, glucose meter, and medication dispenser. And telehealth options let you speak to a doctor from the comfort of your own home for most non-emergency needs. We live in an age of technology, and it’s time to use that to assist in our longevity.
